Reducing carbon footprint: a promise kept
For these Games, the OCOG set itself an ambitious target: to halve the Games' carbon footprint. Mission accomplished! The challenge was met thanks in particular to the “guarantees of origin mechanism”. This mechanism certifies the renewable origin of the electricity supplied to Paris 2024 venues.
Beyond the Games: the EDF legacy
The Olympic and Paralympic Games are behind us. Where do we go from here? Beyond the sporting event, the EDF Group's contribution will continue to benefit as many people as possible. Its innovative solutions and infrastructures are now part of the legacy of Paris 2024.
An iconic Cauldron
Combining a cloud of mist with a powerful stream of light, the flame-ring designed by EDF fascinated as much as it aroused awareness. The spectacular, poetic image of the balloon suspended in mid-air is still fresh in everyone's mind. Behind this work of art lies a true technological feat, conveying a powerful message for the climate.
Energy that spills over from the stadiums
The public was as hungry for communion as the athletes - particularly those from Team EDF - were for medals! Whether in the stadiums, in the streets, at the Olympic venues or along the Olympic flame, the whole of France vibrated in unison. At the EDF Pavilion and Club France, the EDF Group was on hand to share this contagious energy.
