Club France was THE place to celebrate French athletes. More than 3.8 million French people and foreign tourists came to celebrate. At the EDF booths, innovative activities offered a different take on sport, thanks to art and digital technology. The lucky ones even got to meet Team EDF athletes!

The outdoor space: innovations to measure yourself against the EDF Team athletes

A test of reactivity

Sasha Zhoya is a 110 m hurdles specialist and member of Team EDF. To better understand the explosiveness with which he leaps out of the starting blocks, technology has proved its worth. Visitors - including wheelchair users - could measure their reaction time on an athletics track equipped with screens, and see Sasha running alongside them!

A relaxation test

To find out how to improve your dry rebound, which is very useful in basketball, all you had to do was jump as high as possible, without a run-up... and follow the advice of Laëtitia Guapo, 3x3 basketball player and member of Team EDF. Sensors placed on the court did the rest: measuring the best of the three trials and determining your dry rebound record.

A penalty

Scoring a goal sounds simple enough, especially when you've got three tries. Problem: you're up against a goalkeeper like no other, with an almost unbeatable reaction speed, whatever the discipline: handball, wheelchair handball, soccer, cecifoot...

Indoor space: where sport meets art and digital technology

Impossible to miss: at the entrance to the Grande Halle, the 4 giant screens in the indoor area broadcast content linked to the Team↓EDF performances.

This space also offered a different way of discovering the sport, with:

  • two artistic works - signed Le Diamantaire - based on solar and wind energy ;
  • an interactive photo booth, where you could take your own photo with Team EDF athletes;
  • a virtual reality armchair race, a larger-than-life experience to take on the best Paralympic athletes in a 100 m sprint;
  • a digital fencing wall, to test your reactivity sword in hand, in the image of Romain Cannone, French epeeist and member of Team EDF.
