Definition of the project

Supported by European LIFE funding over a 3-year period, the Fil'R SUN projet aims to:

  • install an industrial-scale pilot system of 1 MWp above a water canal in the Haute Garonne region of France;
  • use this facility to enhance our expertise in this innovative concept;
  • promoting and marketing the Fil'R SUN solution.

With a 12 kWp prototype tested from 2020 to 2023, Fil'R SUN is backed by years of hands-on experience.

EDF Hydro Sud-Ouest coordinates the entire project, providing EDF's hydraulic engineering expertise on the interaction between a hydroelectric structure and a solar installation.

Photowatt, manufacturer of low-carbon photovoltaic panels, designs and supplies the solar panels.

Mécamont Hydro, designs and supplies the mechanical part of the Fil'R SUN solution, and installs the entire system.

EDF Group R&D also contributes its expertise to the design of the solution.

What does Wc mean?

The Watt peak (Wp) is a standardized unit of measurement for the power of photovoltaic solar panels. This means that modules are measured at a light output of 1000W/m² under normal incidence, at 25°C with a light spectrum that is also standardized (so-called AM1.5G spectrum including direct and diffuse radiation).
