Antoine Batard and Benoit Charrier are both modelling engineers in the EDF Group's Research and Development division. They lead the Synapse project and have just joined the "Match" phase of the EDF Pulse Incubation entrepreneurship programme.
Antoine and Benoit have developed a tool that helps individuals, and homeowners in particular, to clarify their overall energy renovation project. Their platform, which benefits from a number of calculation modules developed by EDF R&D, offers users a turnkey solution, enabling them to:
- Make a 3D model of their home and run a simulation to carry out an initial assessment of their energy footprint.
- Evaluate the best work to be carried out to improve the energy footprint of their home: installation of photovoltaic solar panels, internal or external insulation, installation of a heat pump, etc.
- Obtain preliminary estimates for the work to be carried out, as well as a calculation of the grants available to them.
With Synapse, Antoine and Benoit want to offer homeowners an easy-to-use tool for understanding and carrying out their energy renovation work.
Synapse, winner of the 2022 EDF Pulse Incubation Awards
For the first time in 2022, the EDF Pulse Awards have rewarded three internal projects in the "Incubation" category. As a winner, Synapse entered the "START" phase of the EDF Pulse Incubation entrepreneurial programme. This stage enabled them to benefit from innovative working methods and the support of business experts in order to explore the commercial and technical feasibility of their project, and to begin testing customer desirability.
The "Match" phase: 3 months to convince
Antoine and Benoît have just successfully passed the incubation committee at the end of the "START" phase and are now entering the second phase of the incubator: the "MATCH" phase. Lasting three months, this new stage will enable them to explore Synapse's commercial feasibility in greater detail and to test customers' interest in their solution on a wider scale.
At the end of the 3 months, their project will be evaluated against objective criteria and given a GO/NO GO so that they can move on to the next stage: the "TEST" phase.
They have the floor
EDF Pulse Incubation is a real opportunity to be accompanied, supported, encouraged and promoted in order to develop our project in the best possible conditions. It gives us the opportunity to make an impact, to have the means to get involved and to be agents of change, on behalf of EDF and in line with its raison d'être.
EDF Pulse Incubation is a great sandbox for testing our solution, experimenting and improving it. We're lucky to be able to benefit from such a programme within the EDF Group.
