The Athletes' Village was inaugurated on February 29 after 4 years of construction. Located across three communes in Seine-Saint-Denis, it will be home to the 23,500 athletes and official delegations of the Paris 2024 Games.
It's official! Everything is now in place to welcome the athletes and their delegations. SOLIDEO CEO Nicolas Ferrand handed over the keys to the Village to Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024. A sign of the importance of the event was the presence of Emmanuel Macron. With the eyes of the world riveted on the capital, this emblematic site will be a showcase for French know-how.
A sustainable and innovative village
The Athletes' Village is a true testament to innovation. In particular, the EDF Group contributed to the construction of the Les Belvédères district. Representing a quarter of the Village, it incorporates 15 photovoltaic roofs, sources of renewable energy. This means that 20% of the district's needs can be met by collective self-consumption! Dalkia has also developed two innovations for one of the Village's tertiary buildings: F'Air Play for indoor air quality and Flowcast for electrical power management.
Did you know?
With " vehicle-to-grid " technology (also known as "bi-directional charging", from the car to the grid), buildings can be supplied with electricity from electric car batteries. The idea? Use these batteries to store the solar energy produced by the photovoltaic panels placed on the roofs of buildings.
A legacy for tomorrow
After the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Village will be transformed into a dynamic, sustainable living district. Distributed between Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine and Île-Saint-Denis, 6,000 residents and 6,000 employees will live and work in brand-new homes and offices. A fine example of successful redevelopment!
