From North America to Asia, the Middle East and France, EDF Renewables has in recent years gained recognised expertise in developing major wind farm projects.
An expert and multidisciplined approach
As a leading company both in France and internationally, EDF Renewables has the very best in-house experts in each area: mapping, environment, electrical connection, aviation, sea, etc. EDF Renewables acts as the project owner of its facilities and draws on its expertise and the EDF group’s long-standing know-how in developing major energy projects.
Expertise in operations and maintenance
EDF Renewables is a key player in the operation and maintenance of wind and solar farms in Europe, both for the Group and third parties. In Europe, the company has over 800 wind and solar power maintenance specialists and a network of around 40 maintenance bases. Its European operations and supervision centre is based in Colombiers, in the south of France. It conducts 24/7 monitoring of the facilities.
A powerful – and discreet – onshore wind farm
The wind turbines at the Ensemble Éolien Catalan are fitted with stealth blades, a technical innovation spearheaded in partnership with the wind turbine manufacturer that prevents them from interfering with the Météo France radar located nearby.
Recycling and wind turbine waste
Around 90% of a wind turbine is recyclable and its various components are handled by recovery networks.
Wind farms and biodiversity
EDF is committed to protecting the environment by conducting environmental studies of wildlife and plant life. The Group governs subcontractors’ activities by including environmental clauses in the contracts and control systems of service providers, as well as by performing regular environmental and/or ecological monitoring.
