These exceptional athletes have made France proud and upheld the values of sport during the Paris 2024 Games. What do they have in common? They are all members of Team EDF and have each brought home one or more medals.
Clarisse Agbegnenou
It’s not just one but two medals that Clarisse Agbegnenou brings back from the Paris 2024 Games! Initially frustrated – despite her bronze medal – after her semifinal defeat, she finds her smile again with her gold medal, achieved in the unforgettable final where the French Team faced Japan, alongside notable teammates like Teddy Riner, Romane Dicko, and Joan-Benjamin Gaba.
The unforgettable moment: when she equalizes with a spectacularly scored point. Clarisse's experience and talent were assets for her team, which ultimately won the gold.
Maxime Grousset
Specializing in butterfly and freestyle swimming, Maxime Grousset is a regular on the podiums – he is notably a double world champion and European champion.
However, it is with these Games that he gains a new stature. His butterfly performance in the men's 4 × 100m medley relay opens the doors to the exclusive club of Olympic medalists. After his first appearance at the Tokyo Games in 2021, this is a crowning achievement for the native of Nouméa.
The unforgettable moment: when he secures the bronze medal for his team in the 4 × 100m medley relay final, during an epic race: starting in 3rd place, he finishes in first to pass the baton to Florent Manaudou, amid the cheers of an ecstatic crowd.
Florent Manaudou
The charismatic Florent Manaudou needs no introduction. By winning two more medals at the Paris 2024 Games, he has made history. He becomes the first swimmer to win four Olympic medals in the 50 meters freestyle. Alongside his friend Maxime Grousset, also a member of Team EDF, he excels in the team event as well. Both secure a bronze medal in the 4 × 100m medley relay.
The unforgettable moment: when he starts a legendary clap with the crowd at the Défense Arena before winning another medal in the 50 meters freestyle final.
Charline Picon
Already a double Olympic medalist in windsurfing and repeatedly honored on global podiums, Charline Picon has once again triumphed in these Olympics. Remarkably, she earns this bronze medal in a new discipline for her: the 49er FX (pronounced “forty-niner”). Behind this complex name lies a light and very agile boat. Sailed in a duo, this small dinghy demands strong athletic skills as well as an excellent sense of balance.
The unforgettable moment: when her partner and Sarah Steyaert's partner knelt to propose marriage, right after their victory at the Marina of Marseille…
